David Petraeus

David Petraeus completed a 37-year career in the United States Army, reaching the rank of four-star general. During his military service, he held several high-profile command positions, including serving as the 10th commander of U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) from 2008 to 2010. He also commanded the Multi-National Force – Iraq (MNF-I) during the troop surge and later led the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) and U.S. Forces – Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011.

Following his retirement from military service in 2011, Petraeus transitioned to the intelligence sector after being unanimously confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). He served in this capacity until November 2012. Throughout his career, he has received various academic and military honors, including the General George C. Marshall Award as the top graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

In the private sector, Petraeus serves as the Chairman of the KKR Global Institute, providing analysis on global economic and geopolitical trends. His academic career includes roles as an assistant professor at the United States Military Academy and a Kissinger Senior Fellow at Yale University's Jackson Institute for Global Affairs. He is also a member of the Trilateral Commission and has authored numerous publications on international relations and military strategy.
