Sir Timothy Besley is a British economist and School Professor of Economics and Political Science at the London School of Economics. His research covers development economics, political economy and public finance.
He served as an external member of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee from 2006 to 2009, has been president of the Econometric Society and the International Economic Association, and was knighted for services to economics and public policy.
