Philippe Aghion is a French economist known for the Schumpeterian theory of economic growth, developed with Peter Howitt, which models growth as a process of creative destruction driven by innovation.
He has taught at Harvard University, the London School of Economics, INSEAD and the Collège de France. In 2025 he shared the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel with Peter Howitt and Joel Mokyr for work explaining innovation-driven economic growth.
