Niall Ferguson

Sir Niall Ferguson is the Milbank Family Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution and a senior fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard University. His academic career includes professorships at Harvard University, the London School of Economics, and New York University, as well as research fellowships at Jesus College, Oxford. He has also served as a visiting lecturer at Tsinghua University and the New College of the Humanities.

As an author and historian, Ferguson focuses on the British Empire, American imperialism, and global financial history. He has written and presented several television documentary series, most notably 'The Ascent of Money', which received an International Emmy Award for Best Documentary in 2009. In recognition of his contributions to literature, he was knighted by King Charles III in 2024.

Beyond his academic roles, Ferguson is a prolific commentator and journalist. He has served as a contributing editor for Bloomberg Television and a columnist for publications including Newsweek, The Spectator, and The Free Press. In 2021, he co-founded the University of Austin. His work frequently appears in international journals such as Foreign Affairs and Foreign Policy, and he was named one of Time magazine's 100 most influential people in 2004.
