Gideon Rachman

Rachman began his career in journalism at the BBC World Service and later served as a reporter for The Sunday Correspondent. He joined The Economist in 1990, where he held various positions including correspondent in Washington, D.C., and Brussels, as well as serving as the publication's business and Asia editor. In July 2006, he transitioned to the Financial Times to assume the role of chief foreign affairs commentator.
His professional work focuses on international relations, global economics, and European Union policy. He has published several books on global politics, including 'Zero-Sum World' and 'The Easternisation'. His analysis frequently examines the shifts in global power dynamics between Western nations and emerging economies.
In recognition of his journalistic contributions, he received the Orwell Prize for political journalism in 2016. That same year, he was also honored with the Commentator Award at the European Press Prize ceremony. He continues to provide regular analysis on geopolitical trends for international news outlets and academic forums.
