Elon Musk is a business executive and engineer. He co-founded the web software company Zip2 and the payments company X.com, which became PayPal following a merger with Confinity.
In 2002 he founded Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), where he is chief executive and chief technology officer. He joined Tesla as an early investor and chairman in 2004 and has been its chief executive since 2008. He also founded Neuralink and The Boring Company, acquired Twitter in 2022, and founded the artificial-intelligence company xAI in 2023.
